Job Summary:
The Mechanic Lead is responsible for the management and production of the Rotary Wing Section and assures that the production schedule and deadlines are met and quality of workmanship is in compliance with all directives and contract specifications.
Principal Accountabilities:
•Provides job assignments to assigned mechanics, coordinates with the maintenance test pilot, quality control technician supply personnel.
•Monitors rotary wing aircraft maintenance practices.
•Coordinates with other sections for specialized and logistical support.
•Schedules work programs; sets time tables, measures progress and redirect efforts as necessary.
•Establishes good supply discipline, maintains good shop practices and enforces safety procedures.
•Composes long-range plans for the maintenance and modification of the helicopter fleet.
•Prepares proposals for the customer for modification, repair and maintenance of aircraft and equipment.
•Advises and assists Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) on specific maintenance and logistics problems.
•Enforces safety practices and environmental safety.
•Trains workers and host nation personnel as required.
•Assures all GSE is maintained.
•Ensures accountability of all Government Furnished Supplies, Equipment, and Facilities.
•Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:
•Must be able to obtain a National Agency Check Investigation (NAC-I)
•Skilled in the repair and modification of helicopters to include dynamic components, engines, avionics, and fuel systems and know the maintenance related operational limitations and parameters.
•Possess the ability to plan, schedule and integrate complex events.
•Be able to communicate well with workers and supervisors.
•Excellent, communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to communicate fluently in the English language.
•Working knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
•Must be able to read, write and interpret technical data is required.
Physical Requirements:
•Travel from 10 � 15%
•Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments will be required.
•Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
•Living conditions may be cramped and substandard compared to western (US) standards.
•Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments while working in field conditions.
•Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waste level and 30 pounds to shoulder height.
Experience:
•Minimum of five (5) years as a licensed FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P).
•Minimum of two (2) years conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
•Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, the FAA Maintenance Bulletin system and US Army or US Air Force maintenance management system requirements.
•Must complete the MDH factory school in accordance with established directives and policies.
•Must have a thorough knowledge of hand tools, hardware and equipment used in the maintenance of assigned aircraft.
•Must be fully knowledgeable of all requirements within the technical orders as they apply.
•MD 500 maintenance experience
•One (1) year experience full-time field service in the last 3 years preferred.
•Two (2) years in a lead position.
•One (1) year experience as a Mechanic or Maintenance Lead in either the OEF or OIF theatres of operations preferred.
•One (1) year experience maintaining MD 500 series aircraft in either the OEF or OIF theatres of operations preferred
•Experience in reading, comprehending, and interpreting technical documents; including manuals, technical data and schematics.
•Previous U.S. Security clearance at the appropriate level required: NAC-I.
Education:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
