MD-530F MTP Pilot Job Code: 604078 Job Summary: The Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) is responsible for all test flights and related activities for MD 530F aircraft. Principal Accountabilities: •Conducts maintenance test flights (MTF) and maintenance operational checks (MOC) on aircraft/ aircraft systems to include engine(s), power train/ flight controls/ hydraulics/ electrical stabilization/ navigational/ communications systems to assure airworthiness of aircraft. •Completes flight planning, preflight, flight, post flight procedures. •Completes required documentation; releases aircraft for operational flights. •Performs ferry flights to support maintenance activities; recovers aircraft from remote sites. •Assists in writing standard operating procedures and work instructions. •Reports deficient and unsafe work practices/methods to assure quality standards and safe maintenance criteria are met. •Provides guidance and recommendations to aircraft technical inspectors and mechanics to assure proper and effective performance of maintenance, within established industry and DOD guidelines and quality standards. •Maintains currency and completes APART requirements in accordance with company policy. •Responsible for maintaining test pilot and aircrew proficiency and performance of test flights in accordance with pertinent aircraft technical and Aircrew Training Manuals. •Performs other duties as assigned. •Serves as a rotary wing Maintenance Test Pilot. •Performs all other duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skills: •Must demonstrate knowledge of assigned aircraft systems, components, maintenance test flight, and maintenance procedures. •Ability to pass a flight standardization evaluation; demonstrate proficiency, and complete RL progression within the established time. •Must complete a satisfactory MTP evaluation in accordance with established directives and policies. •Familiar with DOD directives, contractor maintenance procedures, QC, and PC plans. •Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration and ICAO regulations pertinent to host country. •Ability to communicate fluently in the English language. •Basic knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook). Requirements: Must be able to obtain SECRET CLEARANCE. Physical Requirements: •Location of duty is Afghanistan. •Living conditions may be cramped and substandard compared to western (US) standards. •May be required to perform duties at remote and austere locations. •Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments while working in field conditions. •Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waste level and 30 pounds to shoulder height. •Must be able to pass a Class 2 Flight Physical. •10 � 15% •Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments will be required. •Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Experience: •1500 hours total helicopter time to include 1000 hours combined as a Pilot in Command (PIC), Instructor Pilot (IP), (SP), Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP), or Instrument Examiner (IE) •Must have at least 1 year experience or 100 hours as a ME. •Three years experience as a maintenance test pilot. •Must complete a satisfactory MTP evaluation at MDH factory school in accordance with established directives and policies. •Must be familiar with DOD directives, contractor maintenance procedures, QC, and PC plans. Education: •High school graduate or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor�s Degree preferred. •Completion of manufacturer�s course of instruction, equivalent military flight training, or DynCorp-International transition program of instruction for the assigned aircraft. •Graduate of an Army Aviation Maintenance Officer Course Phase I and Phase II. •Possesses FAA commercial instrument rotary wing pilot certificate and current second-class medical certificate. •500 Total helicopter time in the MD 500 series aircraft preferred. •FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A+P) preferred. •FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred. •Previous U.S. Security clearance at the appropriate level required.
